The Isle of Olonne has a wastewater treatment plant witha treatment capacity of 6,500 PE. The new treatment system includes the following structures:

  • A discharge pipe from the old to the new wastewater treatment plant;
  • Screening, compacting and bagging of rejects;
  • A 250 m³ storage tank with a pump to return it to the water line;
  • An aeration tank containing: a contact zone, an anaerobic zone, an aeration channel (phase syncopation), physico-chemical phosphorus precipitation.
  • A deaerator ;
  • A clarifier ;
  • UV disinfection ;
  • A recirculation sludge pit ;
  • A discharge station for treated water with
    metering;
  • A discharge pipe for around 900 m of
    treated water into the Vertonne river;
  • Reuse of existing lagoons in the event of
    overflow;
  • Sludge dewatering using a screw press;
  • Storage of sludge in skips;
  • Deodorisation using activated carbon.
