Heritage preservation

The expertise gained over more than 60 years among setec‘s subsidiaries enables us to offer a complete, specialised engineering service covering all the requirements needed for heritage preservation projects.

The entire architectural heritage of the country, from buildings to bridges and including industrial structures, represents a national asset.

Whether they are protected historic buildings, old and/or exceptional structures, industrial wasteland or cultural assets, it is our responsibility to preserve them in order to maintain their purpose and pass them on to future generations.

The services offered by setec meet the requirements expected by site owners/managers, by assisting them in preparing a complete inventory of existing sites (environmental study, diagnosis, technical expertise, etc.) in order to define a general programme of conservation, works, maintenance, rehabilitation or restoration-conservation necessary to establish a complete diagnosis (heritage, architectural, materials and structures, envelopes and claddings, geotechnical, thermal, climatic, etc.). The result is an ability to draw up maintenance, renovation or restoration-conservation works programmes that are perfectly adapted to the needs of the project, as part of a socially responsible approach to maintaining what already exists.

For example, Notre-Dame de Paris, the Richelieu Library in Paris, the Mallemort bridge, the Roman amphitheatre in Arles, etc.

Today, faced with an unprecedented environmental crisis, from the scarcity of resources and energy costs to public health issues, preserving our built heritage in all its forms, whether monumental, linked to housing, transport or the reuse of industrial wasteland for new activities, is becoming an ecologically responsible act, meaningful in terms of the commitments we have made to reduce the carbon footprint of construction projects and stop the artificialisation of land, and highly technical in terms of the material (conservation of materials and structures) and regulatory (RE 2020, tertiary decree, etc.) issues involved.
