Port/rivers activities

At setec, maritime and fluvial engineering is focused, firstly, on preliminary studies (traffic, master planning, socio-economic assessment, etc.) and, secondly, on the design and project management of port and coastal structures.

In the context of climatic changes, as witnessed primarily by the seas and oceans, all of the setec's entities working in the maritime and fluvial sector are called upon to design the most environmentally friendly structures, as well as to assess the resilience of existing structures, their maintenance and the extension of their lifespan.

The related areas of intervention are diverse and cover coastal engineering, maritime and fluvial civil engineering, rational asset management of existing structures and assessment of their resilience in the face of climate change.

In the fluvial sector, our ambition is to develop our activities in preliminary studies, in the design of port and navigation structures, as well as in works supervision. Major fluvial operators such as the French Waterways Authority (Voies Navigables de France, VNF) and the National Rhone Company (Compagnie Nationale du Rhône, CNR) have already placed their trust in us.

Our aim is to assist port clients contractors in adopting a rigorous asset management approach, based on the objective of extending the service life of their structures, in order to improve the quality of service offered to their users and also to optimise the use of natural resources.
