Establishing the urban rainwater management master plan for the Thonon Agglomeration

Missions

Synthesis of existing data and inventory
Survey of each municipality to report on work carried out and malfunctions observed
Field surveys and definition of additional investigations to be carried out: 3,800 access records (using an innovative 3D point cloud survey method), 5,500 georeferencing of access points, visits to more than 700 structures (QField records in QGis).

Measurement and diagnostic campaign:

15 temporary flow points at large catchment outlets, 30 flow/pollution points at specific facilities for operational
assessment, interpretation of the 18 permanent self-monitoring points. Characterisation of drainage basins and classification of impacts in terms of
pollution

ITV, smoke tests, dye tests, visits during rainfall

Hdrological and hydraulic modelling (Hydra software)

Study of scenarios and proposal of a works programme (financial programme, GIS summary)

Thonon Agglomération recently took over responsibility for wastewater treatment and will be operating the system under direct management
from 2022.

The agglomeration’s understanding of the rainwater networks is highly heterogeneous and incomplete.,The first step is therefore to draw up complete, standardised plans so that a strategy can be established for managing the networks and structures over the next 20 years.

The aim is to limit the malfunctions currently identified (overloading, overflows) and to limit the impact of pollution on the natural environment
(watercourses and Lake Geneva, the final outlet). The study includes an assessment of the operation of existing stormwater systems in order to propose efficient alternatives to piping.
