Line 1 of the Abidjan Metro is a public passenger transport service project designed to meet the growing transport needs between the different towns that make up the District of Abidjan, particularly on the north-south axis.
The aim of the metro is to relieve traffic congestion in the urban area and improve the fluidity of travel for residents, thereby reducing the city’s carbon emissions.
Covering a total length of 37.4 km and with 18 stations, this 1st line represents a large-scale project, similar to metro lines in major cities. The Abidjan metro will be the 4th metro to be built in Africa and the 2nd automated metro system in Africa. It is the country’s biggest infrastructure project for the past 50 years.
Line 1 is scheduled to open for service in 2029.
We have therefore provided methodological recommendations concerning:
- What an EDM brings to a project and the benefits of having your own EDM
- The various implementation phases (schedule): from gathering the required needs to commissioning the EDM
- Points to address during the requirements gathering phase (coding, metadata, classification, rights, validation circuits, distribution, reporting, archiving, etc.).
- Criteria that will guide the choice of tool (not just costs)
- Points to discuss and verification with the publisher before signing the contract
- Elements to include in the configuration to guarantee the long-term viability of the EDM throughout the project
- The types of profile to be hired to manage this activity (implementation followed by day-to-day management), the job descriptions and their scope throughout the project
- Actions to be taken to ensure effective and positive deployment (of the tool) among project members, and to maintain the same level of efficiency throughout the project.
We also carried out a comparative study (qualitative and financial) of various EDM tools on the market, specific to the construction sector, which could correspond to the needs of the project owner: MEZZOTEAM, FUSIONLIVE, DYNEDOC, ACONEX.
