Digital technology for all

In 2015, the Francs-Bourgeois La-Salle school initiated a project to develop digital education. This project, called “”digital for all at Francs-Bourgeois””, has two main areas of activity: providing Individual Mobile Equipment (EIM) and implementing a Digital Workspace (ENT) linked to Digital Educational Resources (RNE) for teachers and their pupils. The first ENT/RNE/EIM studies were carried out during the 2016/2017 school year. This school year also saw the installation of a widespread WiFi infrastructure within the school, an essential technical foundation for future uses, particularly of smart tablets. The school now wishes to take advantage of the 2017 / 2018 school year to deploy an ENT that meets the needs of the educational community and to begin a phase of experimentation with EIM, specific of tablets.

Since September 2016, setec has been assisting the Francs-Bourgeois La-Salle school with the development of digital education for all within the school.

The setec approach systematically starts with applications. Thus, the methodology applied bysetec consists first and foremost in assisting clients by focusing on their existing facilities and their needs, in order to help them choose the solution(s) that will best meet their expectations and future uses.

In September 2016, after carrying out studies relating to the various components of the operation (ENT/RNE/EIM), setec assisted the establishment with the widespread introduction of a WiFi infrastructure.

setec continues to this day to accompany the client in its approach to digital development.

Challenges

  • Organise and complete the consultation for the introduction of widespread WiFi within a tight timescale, while bearing in mind the restrictions of a listed historic building
  • Study the possibility of setting up an innovative service, focusing on educational functions, combined with digital educational resources
  • Study the link between the future ENT and the school’s existing IS
  • Establish a strategy for introducing a fleet of EIM
