The Grand Paris Express project is a real human adventure. It combines multiplicity of skills, and the ability to work and move forward together. Setec situates itself among the first Engineering companies being part of the transport revolution, and is in charge of works management concerning infrastructure projects led by the Grand Paris corporation. Through its actions, the Grand Paris Express serves public interest and will improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of all the Ile-de-France area.

The main objective of this project is the improvement of the quality of life of public transport users, and also to provide easier access to public transportation overall. Christophe Narduzzi (setec its) explains that « our travel movements in Ile-de-France are going to change », thanks to this « extremely challenging » project. Julie Lelandais (setec ferroviaire) insists on the fact that « the purpose of it is to serve public interest ».

A strong collective dimension The values of solidarity, complementarity and common objective gather all the actors being part of the Grand Paris Express Project. Léonie Agnese (setec ferroviaire) emphasizes on the « expertise of the (setec) group being at the core of the project teams ». Véronique Le Mestre puts forward the individual merit of every participant being part of the project : « Every person working on this construction site was honoured. It is a team work, everyone gets to participate». The common goal value is brought up by Jean Sousa (setec tpi) : « we are all watching in the same direction ».

The coordination of the group is very important, because it is what brings convincing results. That is why Vincent Duroy (setec organisation) takes this mission to heart and tells us he feels like a « real band leader ». One of the key successes of this project finds itself through the association of employees who all have different skills, whether it concerns finances or the construction sites management. Indeed, Christophe Martineau (setec organisation) speaks about a project that requires « the most advanced skills when it comes to cost management », and Yamina Adane (setec organisation) mentions the « anticipation mission » which is essential to handle the numerous needs of the construction sites, the tasks, and the meetings.

Major environmental and social issues at stake The outcome of the Grand Paris Express raises awareness towards environmental and social stakes of our time. Chafika Bekhaled (setec its) announces a « positive project which is going to unclog public transportation in Ile-de-France » and which encourages setec to act for « emerging issues, the environment or energy efficiency ». Fabien Crozat (setec its) refers to a « useful and ecological solution allowing to respond to the needs for travel of our citizens ».

The complexity of this project encourages its actors to surpass themselves and to use new methods of work, new tools, and work more on R&D. Jean-Baptiste Avril (setec tpi) talks about a management of an « impressive quantity of networks in a very limited space », and considering the environmental dimension is not an option. The management of environmental issues related to the project is considered compulsory by setec.

It consists of highlighting environmental measures, the respect of  commitments, the waste management, protection of natural habitats or water management. According to Camille Vassal (setec international), it is a real preoccupation : « We make sure that the environmental engagements are respected ».

Setec confronted to numerous challenges The Grand Paris Express is not without any constraints. However, thanks to the multi-expertises from the setec actors, the group can respond to these constraints, and there are many : geological hazards, waste treatment, tight planning are part of them. Fabien Perthuis (setec bâtiment) talks about « the necessity to ensure a minimum environmental impact », with tailings management for instance. Isabelle Moulin (lerm) reminds us that the 43 million tons of excavated soil from the Grand Paris are a big issue. Fortunatey, the lerm was able to bring its material expertise as well as its analysis methods.

Another important stake is the complexity of the interfaces on which the group is collaborating ; Paule Roux (setec organisation) warns us about « extremely complex » assemblies which « represent a real challenge ». Setec must highly consider the cost-timeline-risk tryptic given the length and the complexity of the project it manages. According to Arnaud Delga (setec tpi) ; the group must « succeed into giving the employer a perfect vision and comprehension of the balance between these three indivisible themes ».

The ambition in terms of innovation from the setec group is an important added-value for its clients. Indeed, Claire Defargues (setec ferroviaire), project director on the Nanterre station for EOLE line and on zone C  from the CDG Express liaison, talks about her mission which aims to « propose methodologies to develop innovative technologies ». The group pairs this  innovation spirit in « constant motion » with a prominent / powerful ?? team spirit : « We are successful when it comes to set up integrated teams, to think as a group ».   To have full access to this article, you can click here.
