Set by setec is the setec group’s new subsidiary specialising in land and regional planning decision-making assistance. The company provides regional planning professionals with studies services and software tools to guide their strategic decisions in this area. Baptiste BAURENS, General Director and co-founder, and Mélanie CHEVALIER, Project Manager at Set by setec, tell us more.
How did Set by setec get started?
set by setec is the result of a collaborative software development project led by setec organisation and setec énergie environnement with the support of the setec group. This project has enabled us to develop Urban Set, the land and territorial intelligence platform for territorial transition.
We are now a team of 8 people, based in Lyon and our assistant Fabienne Gomez Montero, who is in Paris. Our team is balanced between technical profiles, who develop Urban Set, and consultancy profiles, who use Urban Set for their studies. While Urban Set is marketed as software for direct use by our clients, it is also used by our teams as a support for global or thematic (economic, housing, environmental, etc.) land studies.
What exactly is the Urban Set tool?

The functions and data offered by Urban Set are linked to key issues for the future of our regions and their ecological transition: the implementation of Zero Net Artificialisation (ZNA), the optimisation and requalification of land in economic areas, the management of urban renewal projects, the development of sustainable mobility, and possibly in the future, the planning and monitoring of territorial strategies for adapting to climate change.
Are there any projects you are currently working on that you could share with us?
set by setec is already working with around ten clients, both public and private operators. This is the case, for example, with the Lyon Metropolitan Authority’s Voies Lyonnaises project, where Urban Set is helping to monitor the deployment of the hundreds of kilometres of cycle lanes planned as part of the project.
