Offshore wind energy

When meeting the challenges of wind energy, both onshore and offshore, setec provides decision-making expertise, guarantees your technical choices and assists in the development of your projects, both in France and abroad.

Bringing innovative solutions to the challenges of industrialising and deploying offshore wind farms, setec is mobilising the expertise of all our engineers: environmental solutions, port strategies and studies, structural and material choices, transport and installation, project acceptability and control, etc.

Beyond our capacity for advice and expertise, and our position across the entire value chain, our knowledge of the subject has enabled us to forge a conviction and a vision of the offshore wind energy market:

  • We believe that engineering must play its part in providing solutions in an ecosystem that is still emerging, constrained and diverse, but already highly competitive.
  • Our vision is nourished by our scientific and technical culture: our responsibility, as a key player in the decarbonisation of energy, is to continue to invest in innovation and R&D, to maximise our capacity to overcome the existing limitations on offshore wind energy, and to do so within a timeframe that is consistent with national and European ambitions (availability of port infrastructure, environmental and economic performance of projects, availability of industrial tools and vessels, technological maturity of floating installations, bidding cycle, etc.).

As part of our engineering services, we are involved in a number of offshore wind farm projects:

  • Designing, studying and improving the performance of innovative maritime structures: foundations for floating and/or fixed wind turbines in concrete or steel, substations, complex structures, etc.
  • To propose port facilities and solutions: new infrastructures and alternative industrial solutions to increase the efficiency of facilities and optimise development and land use.
  • To address environmental and local issues: expertise in marine ecology, biodiversity and environmental monitoring solutions, stakeholder coordination, and bid-phase expertise (carbon footprint, LCA, local content, etc.).
  • To assess projects and their components from specific angles: load calculations, geotechnics, hydrodynamics, strength and endurance of materials, civil engineering connections, etc.
  • To manage projects using data & project management: management of costs, risks, deadlines, contracts and production of dedicated reports.
