Overview


Situated close to Tiananmen Square, opposite the Forbidden City, the new Beijing Opera comprises a cultural center with a total surface area of 200,000 m² above ground and 36,000 m² under ground. This ellipsoidal dome spanning 210 m and 140 m, rises from a lake and houses:

• A 2,500-seat opera house

• A 2,000 capacity concert venue

• Two theaters (1,200 and 520 seats). Spectators enter the theater through a transparent gallery just under the lake.
