Mobility study in La Défense

Missions

Consultation assistance and consulting

La Défense Seine Arche is Europe’s largest business district, with 450,000 people passing through daily. It is constantly evolving, facing major challenges, such as the launch of the ARENA 92 stadium and entertainment venue.
However, in terms of mobility, the district is full of paradoxes. While it is very easy to access from outside, mobility solutions are few and far between in inside the area, meaning that residents and workers often have to walk a long way to reach their final destinations.
To bridge these gaps, EPADESA decided to launch a study on alternative mobility solutions.

Challenges

Provide consultation assistance and consulting to EPADESA for a mobility study carried out by setec ITS.
The main roles were:
– Offering methodological assistance for organizing and implementing a consultation process
– Helping EPADESA with meetings and interviews with the main partners involved
– Helping to identify suitable mobility solutions to investigate further
Three main groups of solutions are proposed:
– Equipping pedestrians (bikes, scooters and solowheels)
– Speeding up pedestrians (travellators)
– Transporting pedestrians (bus, shuttles, cable cars and monorail)
