DEMETER- projet de centre de tri

DEMETER, waste sorting center ( South France)

Missions

setec  is providing assistance with the environmental installation (“ICPE”) permit process.

Given the new regulatory context, setec  is developing a case-by-case assessment report in line with administrative requirements.

setec  is helping SAAM to define the environmental issues through this case-by-case assessment.

Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole (3M) is a local authority covering 31 areas and more than 400,000 inhabitants. It owns the DEMETER dry-recyclable sorting center, launched in 1994.

This center has reached saturation point, handling 22,000 tons/year with a processing capacity of 6.5 tons/hour at two stations. After serving local needs for more than 20 years, the current sorting process has become obsolete.

To continue providing service in the best technical and financial conditions, 3M needs to renovate this center to handle 32,000 tons (+/- 10%) by 2020, including a possible extension to waste sorting guidelines.

Challenges

setec is helping SAAM with the relevant environmental processes, identifying the project’s specific features, challenges and impacts, in view of the initial status of the site.

Our impact study expertise enables us to provide a high-level view of the challenges while identifying the specific impacts of this renovation project.
