Missions

Saudi Binladin Group (SBG) has been awarded for the design and build of the new passenger terminal building. setec has been selected as designer by SBG for this Project.

setec is responsible for the design in BIM of the whole Project, from Concept design to Final design, in addition to the project management.

setec is in charge of:

  • Management of the design
  • BIM Management
  • Architecture
  • Structure
  • MEP
  • Special Airport Systems
  • Civil and Infrastructures

The team has been deployed in an open space which gathered management, architects and all discipline engineers.

Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) or Velana International Airport is the main international airport in Maldives, located in Hulhule Island in the North central region of the country. Its development, and in particular the construction of the new international passenger terminal building, is a key challenge for the whole country.

This new building of 102,000 m² (at the ultimate stage) will have a capacity of 7.3 Million of passengers and will offer a high level of service, as well as capacity, flexibility and profitability. It will be composed of 6 contact stands, of which 2 code F stands, and will be easily expandable to 9 contact stands.

A new central utility complex will also be built as well as new landside infrastructures, to allow a perfect connection between air, earth and sea.

Challenges

The project was conceived and developped  in BIM. The airport department was in charge of the follw-up and management of the BIM model.
