Syctom

Missions

The study is organized as follows:

– An exploration of the microalgae and cyanobacteria suited to the constraints and demands of the project

– A doctoral thesis on the design of innovative, effective processes for capturing CO2 and producing fuel and matter from bioremediation

– Semi-industrial pilots for capturing, processing and producing matter and energy

Syctom Paris is one of Europe’s largest household waste management companies. At its incineration plant in Saint-Ouen near Paris, the company currently incinerates 600,000 tons of household waste, generating 500,000 tons of CO2 annually.

Being unable to significantly reduce its upstream carbon emissions, Syctom wants to profitably capture and process them. To this end, it has tasked setec  and an international consortium of research companies with designing and developing bioremediation pilots for the carbon contained in its incineration fumes.

Challenges

Capturing CO2 through biological solutions has become a virtuous circle, as a sustainable, economically viable way for industrial companies to reduce their emissions.
