Syctom Paris is one of Europe’s largest household waste management companies. At its incineration plant in Saint-Ouen near Paris, the company currently incinerates 600,000 tons of household waste, generating 500,000 tons of CO₂ annually.

Being unable to significantly reduce its upstream carbon emissions, Syctom wants to profitably capture and process them. To this end, it has tasked setec and an international consortium of research companies with designing and developing bioremediation pilots for the carbon contained in its incineration fumes.
