Wood reaches new heights!

Wood is entirely renewable, and the speed and ease with which it can be installed on construction sites reduces noise pollution and carbon emissions. In France, the “timber industry plan” involves the construction of numerous wooden high-rise buildings (10 storeys and upwards). These demonstration developments should create a new dynamic in the timber and engineered wood sectors. setec tpi was selected by ADIVbois, the association driving the plan, to manage the structural technical committee. This has enabled the company to accumulate knowledge and broaden its expertise in high-rise wooden buildings. setec’s building information modelling (BIM) tool will optimize prefabrication, while its different studies have highlighted critical points requiring research. The amortisation, creep and rigidity of the constructions must constantly be improved to reach record new heights.
