Port of la Rochelle

Missions

-Structuring the operational roadmap to adapt port infrastructure to the growth of offshore wind power.
-Contributing to positioning the port as a key player in the French wind power industry.

As part of the call for projects launched by ADEME, the Grand Port Maritime de La Rochelle (GPMLR) has joined forces with four other ports on the Atlantic coast (Bordeaux, Rochefort, Bayonne) to support the Aquitania Wind Energy project. The aim is to adapt port infrastructure to the massive development of offshore wind energy, both fixed and floating.

The port wants to be able to receive, assemble, store and ship hundreds of new-generation wind turbines (up to 25 MW) within very short timeframes, while taking into account multiple technical, environmental and scheduling scenarios.

Thanks to our systemic vision and strong coordination between the entities of the setec group, we have helped to structure a solid operational roadmap. This ambitious project positions the port of La Rochelle as a key link in the French wind energy industry.

Challenges

  • Anticipate heavy logistics for the assembly and storage of XXL components within tight deadlines.
  • Coordinate the development of 4 distinct port sites by integrating multiple assumptions (types of wind turbines, capacities, commissioning timelines).
  • Structure a robust roadmap despite regulatory and budgetary uncertainties.
