As part of the discussions led by the Valais region and the Rhône-Alpes region on the rail network around the Lake Geneva area, there are plans to reopen the 18km section of rail line between Evian-les-Bains and Saint-Gingolph (Switzerland) to passenger traffic. The purpose of the studies was to determine the feasibility of reopening the line by comparing it with various alternative solutions, to prepare the consultation phase and to formalise the programme of operations.
