On the 4th of June, setec Lyon took part in the Mobility Challenge Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes for the 5th consecutive year, encouraging employees to use an alternative mode of transport to the individual car for a whole day, by travelling to work either by public transport, bicycle, foot or other active modes, by carpooling or by remote working. For setec, this action is part of the mobility plan and the Engineers & Citizens commitment to more sustainable mobility.

Promoted by the region, the challenge encourages participating companies to count the number of employees who use alternative modes of transport to get to work. To do this, they ask participants to complete an online survey or fill in forms provided by the region. Each employee indicates the means of transport used, the number of kilometres travelled and their usual mode of transport to get to work on a daily basis, in order to measure the modal shift of this activity.

Once the number of journeys completed has been recorded, the region will announce the names of the winning companies, based on their size and location.

As Fabienne Bardin, in-house coordinator of the challenge, explains, “This initiative enables employees to try out other modes of transport and to commit themselves more easily to a daily modal shift. For setec, the challenge was also to retain a place on the podium, as in previous years.

In 2024, there were 2,922 registered establishments, 444,500 employees informed, and 1,452,000 km covered by alternative modes of transport, i.e. 36 times around the world!

With a participation rate of 93% of employees, the company came 2nd on the podium in the Greater Lyon area, once again demonstrating the commitment of all of those who took part.
