Pan African Mineral Limited has a concession agreement for a mining exploration in Tambao (manganese deposit), Burkina Faso. In order to explore the mines and transport the ore, Pan African Mineral Limited is looking to renovate the railway track between Abidjan and Ouagadougou (a single-track line of 1140 km built at the beginning of the last century, of which 640 km in Ivory Coast) and to build, at the North, an extension of the track as far as Tambao (approximately 350 km) and, at south, a port terminal in Abidjan. The Pan African Mineral Limited’s project cannot interfere with the exploitation of the existing track (cargo and passengers) during the works Furthermore, the track renovation and expansion will allow future traffic developments of cargo and passengers. In this context, the Ivory Coast presidency, through BNETD, mandated setec for a mission of assistance to develop the project on the territory of Ivory Coast and to sign a contract of concession for the historical railway track and eventually, for the port terminal.
