Commuter train of Abidjan (TUA)

Missions

In its task of assisting the contracting authority, Setec International is responsible for the section on traffic studies that determine the design of supply and revenues involved in the financing package. To this end, international Setec performed:

  • Review of existing databases,
  • Analysis of available traffic studies carried out by the administration or by candidates
  • Analysis of existing models, including one developed in the studies of SDAU,
  • The preparation of the terms of reference report for a complete traffic study of the project,
  • Participation in the comparison of bids,
  • Monitoring and control of the design and validation of the results.

Setec international also conducted an acoustic study to evaluate the usefulness and dimensions of protective devices.

The extension of the metropolitan area of Abidjan, due to the growth of its population and the economic development are expanding travel demand in all transport modes. The public transit system relies on buses (operator: Sotra), mini buses (Gbakas) or taxis (woro-woros). The capacity of this offer to meet demand and control the development of individual motorized transport is limited. The main emphasis of the commuter train of Abidjan is on structuring the provision of public transport across the whole urban area around a major axis. Its route, along the existing line, from North to South, is currently dedicated to freight transport particularly serves the Autonomous Port of Abidjan. An international consultation was launched to select a consortium responsible for financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the project. The Setec group, represented by setec its, is in charge of the technical AMO government in negotiations with the candidates.
