Assistance for the Granges waste processing plant in Eastern France

Missions

This assignment focused on the consultation process and facilitating the company’s application for an operating license:

  • Managing working groups on innovation
  • Coordinating with the regional environmental, planning and housing agency (DREAL).
  • Drafing a document responding to the comments made by the French administration to ensure a successful license application.
  • Preparing information for the public consultation and public meetings.
  • Drafing a response to the conclusions of the investigating commissioner.
  • Accompanying the site monitoring committee.
  • Accompanying visits by the departmental committee for the environment and health and technological risks (CODERST).

 

VALEST intended to continue operating the Granges waste processing plant in Eastern France, including extending the non-hazardous waste storage site and creating a building for breaking bulky waste.

setec  was chosen by VALEST to draft its application for an operating license and provide the necessary assistance up to receipt of the prefectoral order.

Challenges

Discussions with the regional environmental, planning and housing agency (DREAL) enabled the company to clarify its expectations, address certain remarks and quickly obtain a license by prefectoral decree in 2016.
