The hybridization of skills allows the development of a solid background based on various and transdisciplinary knowledge. Ahmed Skali, Sarambé Baya, Rabab Amajjout and Mohamed Baakil tell us about their experience of hybridizing skills. They use reference systems and tools developed by their international counterparts, they have their deliverables reviewed by specialists and they acquire know-how in specific areas, often not covered by local engineering services, such as rock mechanics, rolling stock engineering, transport systems and complex civil engineering and building works.

Learning by sharing

Hybridization in Morocco is mostly achieved through teamwork; each member learns from each other and is enriched by these different experiences. Ahmed works mainly as a geotechnical specialist, but he also works closely with hydraulic engineers and construction specialists on the diagnosis and development of solutions.

Sarambé Baya
setec Morocco As a network and systems engineer, Sarambé confides that he is still learning about transport-related systems. These include ticketing, the Operations Support and Passenger Information System (OSPIS), low-voltage power supply (LVP) and rolling stock (RS). At setec Maroc each activity is supervised by a specialised subsidiary of the group. This approach allows to develop the general culture and the scientific knowledge in multidisciplinary projects. Ahmed works mainly with terrasol while Sarambé works with setec its and shortly with setec is.

Getting to know the group spirit

A Hydraulic engineer on environmental questions, recruited in October 2017, Rabab spent 3 months within the setec hydratec offices in Paris, which gave her the opportunity to understand the group’s spirit and values, to familiarise with internal procedures and tools, and to build lasting relationships with future colleagues at all levels. She is currently in charge of QA and development of the group’s hydraulic and environment activities in Morocco. Thanks to this successful experience, she is currently in a position to participate in the development of setec hydratec’s commercial activity in Africa and the Middle East. Furthermore, she is a member of the group’s QSE referent team.

Full immersion

Mohamed Baakil
setec bâtimentGeologist and structural engineer, having studied in Morocco and France, Mohamed was recruited by setec in early 2019. He is carrying out an immersive and instructive 2-year skills development programme in partnership with setec tpi, setec bâtiment and terrasol. After a first year spent in the ranks of the MOE for the extension of metro line 14 south for the Grand Paris, Mohamed is currently perfecting his skills in the field of buildings, in particular for the rehabilitation of a building complex and a tower in Abu Dhabi. The aim of such exchange programmes is both to bring companies of the group closer together and to increase the technical skills and exchanges between the numerous companies of the group. As he explains, it is also interesting to compare the different working cultures.
