Redevelopment of the low-level square at Part-Dieu train station

Missions

Scheduling, Steering and Coordination

As part of the development works for the Part-Dieu project, the Société Publique Locale (SPL) Lyon Part-Dieu is creating an open space known as the ‘place basse’, situated right at the heart of the multimodal transport hub (MTH). This new space reflects the ambition of a ‘contemporary metropolitan hub’ and is designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding developments: Place Béraudier, the SNCF railway station, the metro station, the underground car park, the To-Lyon tower, the Track-to-Machine (TTM) system and the Servient/Bonnel access points.

On level -1, the lower level will host :

  • a bicycle park with 2 000 places,
  • a taxi rank,
  • a public square outside the metro station ,
  • the TVM system disconnection zone.

At levels -2 and -3, there is a shared rainwater retention basin. At ground level, a canopy and a cycle ramp will make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to access the site.

As the structural work is being carried out as a separate project, Société Publique Locale (SPL) has commissioned setec to manage the Scheduling, Steering and Coordination of the finishing works and technical trades, from the preliminary design stage through to the certificate of satisfactory completion.

During the design phase, setec schedules studies and works, defines the phasing, organises the construction sites and coordinates interfaces with related operations. During the execution phase, setec manages the works, coordinates contractors to ensure deadlines are met, implements organisational measures and ensures the MTH remains fully functional. setec also supports the SPL with project coordination and the close monitoring of contractor performance.

Project integration is carried out in a complex and highly interlinked environment.

Challenges

This project, which lies at the heart of a larger project for a multimodal transport hub (MTH), is highly complex as it interfaces with six other projects, four of which are under separate project management contracts, within a densely built-up urban environment:

  • The Place Basse car park, managed by VINCI IMMO
  • The Place Béraudier, managed by SPL LPD
  • The auxiliary structures (3 tunnels), managed by SPL LPD
  • The To Lyon tower (high-rise building), managed by VINCI IMMO
  • The new station under the project management of SNCF
  • The new L line under the project management of SNCF Réseau
  • The new metro access under the joint project management of SPL/SYTRAL
