Dibwangui hydroelectric development project

Missions

Our tasks:
– Conduct an initial project assessment. Look at:
* Project Design
* Geotechnical data
– Conduct an optimization study
– Assist in the budgeting process
– Technical assistance and proposal of other alternatives for:
* the dam
* the canal
* the production plant, including a stability study
* the high-voltage substation

A 15MW hydro power plant is set to be constructed in Dibwangui following a signed concession agreement between the government of Gabon, FGIS, and Eranove.
The project includes:
– Closure works on the Louetsi river to create a reservoir,
– Hydraulic tunnels, pipes, and channels (inlet tunnels)
– A hydroelectric plant, equipped with 3 Kaplan turbines:
* Flow rate: 25 m3/s /turbine.
* Nominal power: 5.1 MW/turbine.
* Net head: 23.7 m.
– An outdoor electrical substation,
– Overhead power lines between Dibwangui and Bongolo,
– Remodelling the Bongolo substation
– Constructing ancillary facilities necessary to the operation of the facility,
– The deconstruction or rehabilitation of temporary facilities

Challenges

Creating a BIM (Building Information Modeling) / 3D model for both the dam and the power plant was very useful in estimating water quantity accurately, as well as in the preventive maintenance process.
