The Santo André urban mobility programme continues to transform with the completion of the Santa Teresinha Complex, delivered in July 2025. This major infrastructure project aimed to improve traffic flow, enhance user safety and promote more sustainable modes of transport in the heart of the municipality, one of the largest in the São Paulo Metropolitan Region in Brazil.
The project involved the construction of two viaducts totalling approximately 700 metres, three additional bridges and a steel footbridge. It also included the complete regeneration of Praça Samuel de Castro Neves and surrounding areas, with improvements to enhance accessibility and adapt the road network. As part of this urban transformation, 760 metres of safe cycle paths were created, offering residents a new transport option.
At the same time, the renovation of the Castelo Branco viaduct was a key element of the programme. The teams carried out extensive renovation and structural reinforcement work on this 620-metre-long structure so that it could accommodate heavier vehicles. With the Complexo Santa Teresinha, Santo André is taking another step towards safer, smoother and more sustainable transport: a goal towards which the teams at as part of the setec Group’s international commitment, are proud to contribute.
At the heart of this strategic project, setec Hidrobrasileira was responsible for managing the programme and supervising the works, a task made possible thanks to funding from the Inter-American Development Bank.
This expertise ensures technical consistency, the successful execution of the works and the quality of the infrastructure delivered to the city.
