Conakry – Kankan Railway line

Missions

From december 2016The assignment includes traffic studies (potentially for mining, cargo, passengers and cement)

Creation of a 1 000 km railway cargo (mainly mining) and passenger network for the central Guinea corridor. The project also includes a new port or an extension of the existing Conakry port (study variants).

The project provides infrastructure that :

  • Encourage the potential mining activity for which Guinea is one of the richest worldwide.
  • Contributes to allowing access to Central and Upper Inland Guniea and the sub-regions neighboring Mali.

Based on the traffic studies the following studies will be carried out :

  • Different scenario design
  • Line operation program definition (tonnage testing, speed and operational design and rolling equipment characteristics, train station and siding implantation)
  • Railway operations study
  • Railway and Port technical Feasibility studies
  • Environmental Assessment
  • Investment Estimation
